Dear friends, I have not been eating things lately that I would want the world to know about. In my time of absence, I have had had more than my share of bacon cheeseburgers and cheese fries, more than I thought humanly possible. I am getting my act together. I will be back soon.

In the meantime… here is my almost finished plate of ribeye and pork ribs at a place that also serves “road kill,” “rattlesnake bites,” and “chicken critters.”

Best. breakfast sandwich. In the woooorld. This is the only way my boyfriend convinces me to go into NoVa. Bacon, poached egg and frisee on Italian feather bread at Northside Social in Arlington. Do it and you’ll be glad you did.

Ohhhhhh my goodness, I am strongly craving me some jja jang myun (black bean noodles) today. It’s probably the Korean equivalent of delivery pizza, cheap and delicious in the way that you know you really don’t want to know all the stuff that goes into it to make it taste so. damn. good. In fact, it never does taste as good at upscale places, which is where this picture is from. Probably because they leave out those, um, unmentionables I referenced previously. Ohhh my goodness I can’t even keep typing because I want this so badly. Ok. I’m going out to hunt for something similar. Anyone know anything that comes close in DC??? Metro accessible (aka not Annandale)???

As much as I love butter and cheese, I miss eating like this everyday. (Grilled fish, vegetables, and soft tofu soup.)

Horseradish vodka & garlic-pickle vodka after dinner at Russia House. The horseradish vodka was surprisingly good, almost sweet even. And the garlic-pickle… let’s just say that experimenting sometimes doesn’t pay off.
